Jesus Sandals – Walk His Way
Sandals became a common footwear a very long time ago. Years even before Jesus was born, Romans moved around with something to keep their feet protected amidst rough terrains and long walks. However, the oldest craft of sandals gave just enough protection to the feet’s needs and more often than not, failed to last long.
During Jesus’ time, people began to become mindful of social class. Romans, for instance, found it a huge shame to appear barefoot in public as this served as an indication of dire poverty. Given these, more and more people felt the need to wear a pair of sandals in public. Warriors and ordinary men, the high-class and the slaves – alike – wore the footwear. This was when the name “Jesus Sandals” came about.
“Jesus Sandals,” because it became the most common feet protection during His time. Jesus walked around together with his disciples to preach the good news in pairs of Jesus sandals. By this time, the sandals have undergone a variety of changes and its formerly thin soles has proved an even better ability to withstand the roughest of terrains, the toughest of wars and the longest of walks. How has this pair played a huge role in Jesus’ preaching of the good news?
Jesus sandals were tough. Jesus’ and his disciples’ preaching entailed long walks. Town to town, house to house, they would travel to preach the Gospel and share the good news with a reliable footwear to help ensure that they would reach their destinations without having to deal with unfortunate circumstances in between. Jesus sandals have proved to be durable, reliable and comfortable at the same time.
The footwear was worn by almost everybody – Romans, Jews and the disciples themselves. During the time of Jesus’ final sacrifice, as he was carrying His cross to Mt. Calvary, people – the good and the bad – walked with Him in their Jesus sandals. To date, some religious Christians remain attached to the footwear which has witnessed the good and blessed suffering of the Messiah.
Jesus sandals are believed to be among the first most rigid shoes ever crafted. Usually, a stiff sole is attached to the foot using leather straps or cords. This ensures the foot to be in place despite erratic movements. It remains a common footwear in countries with warm climates especially those located around the Mediterranean.
Many years later, Jesus sandals remain to be among the most sought after footwear. One which proves comfort and an unparalleled unique style in one, this footwear has managed to keep it original look as is, with only very minimal changes such as brighter colors, smoother textures and the like. Nowadays, men and women alike, wear this pair with equally stylish clothes, dresses and accessories.
Jesus sandals – let’ simply put it as “function and style” in one. Why not walk His way?
