Do you know or have a youngster that has a birthday coming up? Most small children love to open presents – I know I sure did when I was young. Sometimes it is really difficult trying to decide what to get the little tykes. Unless you are around them all the time, you never know what they are interested in or what they need. Why not do something a little different this year? With a little bit of effort and imagination, you could create the perfect children’s birthday gift basket that is sure to make that little girl or boy smile!
Sometimes the younger the child is, the easier it is to find the items that the recipient is interested in that will also fit your budget. What is really fun is finding the little gifts that will make their faces light up with joy! Start with an idea of what you want to give them. If your little birthday boy is between 3-5 years old, you might want to start out with a dump truck. Choose something that would be fun to play with and also hold other items. If not a truck, perhaps a boat, basketball net or even a sand pail. Little fingers need bigger toys for safety purposes, so you will want to keep that in mind when adding goodies. I have found that the local $.99 store is an ideal place to find things to add to this kind of gift.
For a gift for such a young person, you can use an assortment items that are both fun and educational. Add some lettered building blocks and a simple color book with those chunky crayons. Books are always a good investment, perhaps a couple about animals or some other popular character. You can’t go wrong with a ball, something soft and squishy. Flash cards with animals or a small game would also be appropriate.
It is also nice to put in some kind of snacks. Try finger food like animal crackers or cookies. If you want to put in healthier items; raisins, nuts and fresh fruit would be great. Of course there are your usual snacks of cookies and candy – the choice is yours.
Put all of your goodies in the big plastic dump truck, wrap with cellophane and tie it with a bow, and viola, you have a custom designed gift for your terrific little tyke! He will squeal with joy with the prospect of tearing into the gift and exploring all the fun found items! You have accomplished 2 things, created a fun children’s birthday gift basket, and made a little person extremely happy!
